What?
‘Undiscovered Fans Week’ (or UFW) is exactly what it sounds like; a week dedicated to all the undiscovered fans on the world wide web. This includes every fandom and every type of fan; the writers, the artists, the graphics makers, the fanvidders, fanmixers, and any other creative fan-type thing you can think of.
Why?
After being involved in fandoms for quite a while, I, your friendly Moderator, began to find myself a little upset by the unintentional fandom hierarchy seen in most fandoms. As stated above, it is usually completely unintentional, but there is no denying that a select group of contributors (be they artists, writers, etc.) get about 90% of the fandom’s attention. Not to mention all the ‘Fandom Famous’ blogs that reblog all of their work. Because of this, it’s really quite hard to get noticed and appreciated in fandoms, whether it be a fandom you’ve just joined, or one you’ve been a part of since the beginning of time.
Thus, the UFW movement was born; a week long celebration of all manners of undiscovered fans in all manners of fandoms, created simply to help get them some well deserved attention!
When?
Beginning Monday, February 20th and ending Sunday, February 26th.
(This is subject to change based on levels of interest shown)However, I, your friendly moderator, hope to make this an annual, or even bi-annual event, depending on how well it goes this year.
Where?
Here on tumblr, of course! To be more specific, this event will be run in two ways; via this HQ blog, but mainly through YOU!
For this initiative to really take effect, we have to aim for the widest range of viewers possible, thus, I, your friendly moderator, am calling for any ‘Fandom Famous’ blog who is willing to apply to be a ‘UFW Host’. This position, among other things, entails dedicating the majority of reblogs, for the specified week, to be dedicated to undiscovered fans of all sorts!
For those truly daring, I, your friendly moderator, also call upon the famous authors, artists, vidders, etc. to lay down their tools of the trade for a week (this is negotiable) and spend their time reblogging and promoting other undiscovered fans that work in the same way they do.
i.e. Artists promote artists, authors reblog authors, and so on.If you are either a ‘Fandom Famous’ blog or a well known fanartist, fanfic author, fanvidder, etc. and are interested in being a Host, head over to the ‘Apply To Host’ page!
Who?
Everyone! No matter what fandom you are from, I call upon you, if you are any of the following, to get involved.
- A ‘Fandom Famous’ blog
- A well known fanart, fanvid, fanfic, fanmix, etc. blog
- A well known fanartist, fanvidder, fanmixer, etc.
- An Undiscovered Fan
- A member of a fandom!
